DRIVE 6 SPEED BUILDERS KITS FOR BIG TWIN - Baker Drivetrain
Direct Drive
means that the 6th gear has a 1:1 ratio (for 1 revolution of the input
shaft, the output shaft turns 1 revolution) which is the same as an OE
5 speed.
By including a 28 tooth compensating sprocket and a longer primary drive
chain, the overall drive ratio is exactly like a .86:1 overdrive 6th gear
but with the 99% mechanical efficiency of a 1:1 ratio drive.
All gears are finish ground on diamond coated tooling after heat treating
to produce a super fine surface for holding exact tolerances and eliminating
gear mesh noise.
Chrome plated access door.
Fourth, fifth and sixth gear sets have helical cut gear faces to further
reduce gear noise.
One piece design of the countershaft and sixth gear eliminates the weak
point found in the OE transmission.
Redundant (roller and plunger type) shift drum detents for positive neutral
finding.
Anti-overshift inner transmission linkage with improved shape return spring
for dependability.
The 28 tooth compensating sprocket yields 14% more starter motor torque

A top mounted bleeder valve helps to simplify installation.

Designed to eliminate the clutch cable providing smoother clutch operation.
This eye-catching clutch housing is made of 6061-T6 billet aluminum and
includes stainless steel allen head mounting bolts. The button head fill
plug is centrally located to help ease in transmission fluid installation.
The hydraulic line connection is designed to be used with a 10mm banjo
bolt and is located near the bleeder screw at the bottom rear of the housing
for a clean appearance. For best results and matching appearance, use
with our EXCEL left hand master cylinder MU44601 or MU45241 (handlebar
controls page). Fits Big Twin Models 1987/Later. Made in the U.S.A.

A roller/detent design allows the Shift Drum to rotate to the correct
position easily (OE style uses a plunger/detent).
Neutral is easy to find due to the dual neutral detents.
The geometry of the Shift Fork Pin Grooves are designed and CNC machined
for smoother shifting.
Unnecessary material has been removed from the Shift Drum to help reduce
rotating mass.
CNC machined 6061 T-6 extrusion stock aluminum Shift Drum Supports with

Shift drum end play is preset.
