AIRTAIL REAR SHOCK ABSORBERS FOR FLT - Progressive Suspension

State of the art integrated air and coil shock absorber utilizes a linear rate coil combination with dual chamber air shocks for a smooth ride and ultimate suspension control.
These chrome plated shocks ride like traditional high-end shocks while still allowing for extensive height and spring rate tuning.
Inertia Active System (I.A.S.) with inertia valve technology separates wheel movement from chassis movement.
High pressure gas charged for consistant damping performance.
Dual chambered technology offers one air chamber for bottoming control and adjusting suspension for the bike's load.
The second air chamber adjusts ride height.

Shocks use a manual fill system with an optional on-board compressor kit available.

Airtail Rear Shocks for Softail 2000/L and 1989/1999 - Progressive Suspension

Air pressure controlled ride height (down to 2" lowered seat height) is easily adjusted on the fly by the optional on-board compressor kit. (See below.) The optional hand pump is an economical means of adding air pressure if the on-board compressor kit is not desired.
One shock of the chrome plated set is conventional and incorporates a coil spring and damper assembly. This shock basically supports the weight of the motorcycle and controls the compression/rebound dampening characteristics. The other shock features two separate air adjustable chambers. One chamber is used for the rider/passenger's weight and the other is used to control the ride height.

These 422 Series shocks are designed to provide the ultimate in ride quality.
Features Inertia Active System (I.A.S.) damping. This type of "state of the art" valving senses the difference between chasis movement and wheel movement. When the wheel encounters a pot hole or expansion joint the damping changes instantly from firm to soft allowing the wheel to move rather than having the jolt transmitted to the chassis and the rider.
Progressive wound springs further enhance the ride quality by increasing in tension relative to the amount of shock travel.
Nitrogen charged to help eliminate dampening fade unde extreme conditions and high heat.
Large windows in the shock covers provide a unique look while eliminating internal corrosion.
