These systems feature a series type regulator/rectifier that unloads the
stator when the battery is at full charge letting the engine spin easier
than the OEM shunt type which creates a constant drag. This not only extends

ALTERNATOR ROTOR FOR 22 AND 32 AMP BIG TWIN - V-Factor
This alternator rotor features a fully encased set of magnets that
have no way of working loose like the OEM rotor is known to do. Instead
of having
just six long magnets like the OEM rotor, this rotor has 12 short magnets
to match the number of laminated windings found on the stator. The steel
housing is fully machined for perfect concentricity and the inner and
outer washer is integrated into the housing with a full complement
spline. this
type of washer/housing configuration produces a spline with a .075" thick
inside integrated washer and a .220" thick outside integrated washer
with an overall width of .470" as opposed to the less than adequate
OEM thickness of .187". Not only is this rotor a sensible replacement
part for stock size motors, it is almost a mandatory item for high performance
motors. Fits Big Twin models 1981/1997 with a 22 amp or a 32 amp charging
system. Will not fit EFI models.

MOUNTING HARDWARE FOR BIG TWIN 1970/LATER
Don't be sorry, be sure when replacing the stator with this Stator Mounting
Hardware Kit and Backing Plates. If an ounce of prevention is worth a pound
of cure, then it would be wise to replace the mounting hardware when replacing
the stator. No one wants to do the same job twice and imagine the damage should
the old hardware loosen and back off into the alternator!

Hint: When replacing stators, it is a good
idea to replace the mounting screws and use a blue or red Locktite
to ensure that is will not come loose. Loose stators will cause a knock
and damage the small 10-24 mounting holes. These holes can be very
difficult to repair. (We have a Locktite Stick Kit available on Tools page.) |

Designed to reduce unnecessary drag on the engine, these regulator/rectifiers
are of the "series" type that actually unloads the stator whenever
the battery reaches full charge. The OEM "shunt" style grounds
the system at full charge, creating a continuous drag on the engine. The
chrome plated die cast housing measures a mere .750" thick (except
16206) and all of the electronics are fully potted so vibration and the

GENERATOR WITH BUILT-IN REGULATOR FOR ALL MODELS - Cycle Electric Inc.
Integrated design combines the solid state regulator into the end of the
generator for an uncluttered look with simplified wiring.
The regulator incorporates the armature support bearing to keep the overall
length (7.58" from gasket surface fins) to a minimum.
The regulator not only controls voltage, it limits current (amps) in an
inverse proportion by sensing the temperature of the armature. As the
temperature increases, the amperage decreases. This provides more amps
after a cold start to recharge the battery faster (5 minutes instead of
20) yet protects against overheating.
